Today the first release of the Bitcoin and Altcoin Wallets WordPress plugin is made available
Hi all,
Today is a big exciting day for the dashed-slug! The Bitcoin and Altcoin Wallets plugin is released.
The Bitcoin and Altcoin Wallets plugin interfaces to a bitcoin wallet and lets your site visitors deposit and withdraw bitcoins, and to transact with other users.
Coin adapters
The plugin can accept coin adapters, i.e. plugin extensions that talk to wallet daemons of other cryptocurrencies (e.g. litecoin). Click here to read about the Litecoin adapter.
Soon more coin adapters will be provided. If there is a particular cryptocurrency that you are interested in, please contact info@dashed-slug.net directly and make your request!
UPDATE: As of today, February 6, 2017, a Feathercoin adapter is now available.
Shortcodes
The plugin offers a number of simple shortcodes that a site owner can use to enable user transactions.
PHP API
The plugin also exposes a unified, coin-agnostic PHP API that enables other plugins/themes to perform cryptocurrency transactions, without the burden of keeping track of user accounts, deposit notifications, etc.
JSON API
The shortcodes display front-end forms that operate using knockout.js and talk to the plugin via a JSON API. This API is well-documented and a theme developer may choose to utilize it directly.
FAQ
Here’s a short FAQ with questions that you may have.
Roadmap
While this plugin is fully functional, most importantly it provides a crypocurrency API. This means that it will be a basis for extensions that will be released soon. Examples of functionalities that you can expect in the near future:
- payment gateways for popular shopping carts
- user engagement rewards
- faucets
- selling ad spaces
The plan is to leverage new cryptocurrency technologies to help you monetize your site in novel ways.
Feedback
Over the next few days the plugin will be published at WordPress.org, after passing the approval process. Then you will be able to submit issues, suggestions, thoughts, and other feedback via the support forums there. In the meantime, please email any feedback directly at info@dashed-slug.net.
UPDATE: As of today, January 7, 2017, this plugin is hosted on wordpress.org. Please use the support forum for all issues, suggestions, feedback, etc.
